The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) will be proposing changes to their lead public health regulation DHS 163. The draft rule change should be published in 2019, and will be available for public comment before the final rule change is published. The rule was last changed in 2009. Among the likely changes will be updates to reflect changes made in the Wisconsin State Statutes, provisional certification for all lead disciplines, detailed requirements for lead work practices, and in state training requirements.
DHS 163 requires training, certification, and safe work practices for people and companies doing lead inspections, lead hazard assessments, lead abatement, and renovation in pre-1978 housing and child occupied facilities (day care, pre-school, and kindergartens).
